Scholarship

The Dr. Jim Dandy scholarship is named in honor of the first black eye doctor of Savannah. Applications will be issued to area high school counselors in February or March of each year and recipients will be awarded a one-time nonrenewable scholarship in April or May of every year. Seniors will complete an essay based on the year’s topic. Their responses will be evaluated by a subcommittee of the Sigma Education Foundation. Scholarship amounts will range from $500 to $1000 scholarships. The number of scholarships given will be contingent upon the amount of money raised by the organization.

Mentorship

The Sigma Education Foundation prides its partnership with the Sigma Beta Club of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Tau Beta Sigma Chapter. The mentorship partnership partners members of the fraternity and young males between the ages of 8 and 18. The Sigma Education Foundation has committed to helping the Beta Club in funding and support. It is our goal to sponsor trips that aid in the development of young men and to expose them to opportunities outside of their everyday lives. It is our goal to sponsor at least one college tour for each of the Sigma Betas each calendar year. Being able to give back is an important function and we pride ourselves in being able to aid when we can. Please contact us on how to request assistance for your organization.
